Frustration
This season I had high hopes for the blues. After the first few weeks I could see a style of play and some good players with room for development. My hope was that by this stage of the season we would be top of the league and well on the way to promotion. But to my frustration, we are now in fourth place behind Monaghan United and struggling to make the play off spot.
Home Matches
Why can't we perform in the RSC? Is the pressure too much on a young team? In every promotion winning team your home results are the most important and we are not doing the business in the RSC. You have a chance every second week to show your supporters how good you are and make it a place where every other team hates visiting. But we can't get fired up for it. Are the fans to far away in the stand? If this is so, then why don't the players and manager ask supporters to go to the far side, to get behind the team more?
Set Pieces
Ok so Kirby has scored from a couple of free kicks early in the season. But our corners are very poor. We have big men Rea, Breen and Bradley but none have be effective in the box. Breen scored from a diving header, only goal I can remember. We must vary corners and free kicks around the box and from the defence. We miskicked one corner low this season and Kevin Whittle scored.
Shots on Target
In most games this season we have created at least fifteen shooting chances in each match. I would like to see the figures of how many were on target? Four at most? Surely for players of this standard, this return is not good enough. The goal never moves or so I'm told.
Movement
This is probably the most frustrating of all. For a team who play so nice football on the ground our movement when we have the ball is non existent. We always seem to stand around and wait for things to happen. We have to start moving and demanding the ball off each other. Football is a game played off the ball and sometimes this is hard to remember.
Come on blues we could be the best team in this division, with a little more organisation and fire in our heart. We must get hungry and hate losing to poor teams. No more mister nice guy!
